Ok so had another go at changing the fuel filter and well it broke the filter was stuck fast and broke off so going to the scappers tomorrow for a new fuel line emptied the filter into a tub

Don't I know it lol at least the filter was doing its job I think got a second hand line this morning from AK spares in Huddersfield I took it off a beetle 1.8t straight swap ran the same route and all is good changed the plugs too they wasn't too bad don't know weather I should put a treatment into the fuel anyone think it might benefit or waste of time thanks Si.

I wouldnt bother personally if the engines not causing issues.  Just use good fuel
