Car is in the dealers !

Featured Replies

Well following on from my excessive steam issue I've popped into my local dealer and explained the issue and they have advised not to drive the car any more.

Currently trying to sort out a hire car at the moment.

Not good !!!

2016 car, so its new..... I'd be getting a courtesy car from them mate.....

Hope you have the Octy back soon!

Not had it a month yet.

Skoda assist is sorting the loan car ! A vw passat of all things.

Time for rejection and a new replacement me thinks...... 25k or so on a new car and they're doing major work? No, No, No!

Yeah, good luck with that.

I think rejecting it is a good idea if it a really big fault, but the reality is you will be fighting skoda all the way, also you will need some legal assistance as they will not role over easily. Also this potentially could take months.

I'm not sure about rejecting the car. Is that something that's possible ?

To be honest I'm hoping its something simple.

Yes, rejecting the car would be an option, but only if there's something significantly wrong with it, and at this stage you have no idea what the problem is.
The best thing to do now is start making notes of everything that's happened so that if it does head towards rejection, you have good evidence.

It is possible to reject the vehicle, but you should allow Skoda or the supplying dealer reasonable opportunity to find out what the problem is and how to fix it. If they are unable to repair to a satisfactory standard within a reasonable period of time then you should have a strong case for rejecting it.

My issue is that as I'm in the military and due to deploy a long way south in 3 weeks for 4 months I'm strapped for time.

Not good mate. I know your pain.

You don't happen to be going to the South Atlantic?

We don't really like the Passat.

Oh ..  :(  Well hope yours is sorted soon enough anyway

Yeah, I know about them. You in 39?

I'm ex 23 (hence the name) and now with 33.

Not had the pleasure yet of visiting that location. We sent some guys there for 6 months.....I went to Cyprus. ;-)

Sorry mate for the confusion but I'm RAF. I've worked with a few reme lads doing Bomb Disposal down the Falklands on a previous det. Currently just got back from 4 months out in Cyprus and going down there in 3 weeks.

Gotcha. Not sure why REME were doing EOD....usually an RLC or Engr.

Got quite a few mates who go down that way for contract work.

You must have been at Aki? I spend 3mths at Epi during a construction tour heading up AT. B-)

At least ull get back for the end of summer here.

Blooming autocorrect. It wasn't reme doing EOD. I done all my BD traimg down at Chatham in Kent a while back but I believe it has moved locations since then.

Yep was based at Aki.

Yep. RE, Brompton Barracks.

Its moved to DEMS training Regt, still run by RE mainly with some RLC.

So , had a call from the dealers and they can't find anything wrong with the car and can't replicate the fault either ???

What was the fault being reported by yourself?

Lots of steam coming from the exhausts when accelerating.

Was doing it when the car was hot or cold and I'm sure the coolant level had dropped
