Service on 2 year old, low mileage Fabia

Featured Replies

I know it's ridiculous but my wife's 2 year old Fabia pdi 100bhp has only done 11k miles and is due for it's 2nd service. She's had quotes from various dealers varying between

The warranty remains intact as long as the car is serviced in accordance with Skoda's service schedule using Skoda parts by a VAT-registered garage :D

HOW much!!!

The 2nd service on my vRS was well below

Get it checked out at another dealers, even if it means going the extra mile. I'm sure you're just a rip-off subject :) 2 years? 11k? No way you should pay that much. It only requires an engine check pretty much, plus the regular changes like oil and filter.

If that's an annual, I got quoted £170 from my local Skoda dealer in Peterborough.

Dealers say the 2 year service costs so much because the brake fluid has to be changed in addition to oil, filter and 'look at'!

My 'annual' service at 27800 has been quoted at £160 from the dealer, im near london as well!

Yep the brake fluid should be changed every 2 years, although saying that, I was quoted

Go to a local independent garage and get them to use VAG parts and save yourself a mint !! Franchised dealers are a TOTAL rip off. They should ONLY be used for warranty work.......IMO

I'll never use the dealers again.

This is frightening me

My SDi Fabia cost £39 for 10,000 miles and £109 for 20,000 miles (both done within 6 months of buying the car (don't ask)). This was back in 2001

My 53 Reg 12v Comfort cost £89 for 10k

My 53 Reg Octy cost £189 for the variable 20k service (took it in at 15k as I didn't want to risk it)

As for the new VRS - better start saving now.

We had the same problem. The wifes 53 plate (December) silverline estate 1.2 HTP has only covered 9k in 2 years. We had the full service, oil, brake fluid change, filters ect, ect, at the dealers for £176 all in..............Pullyns in York

They should ONLY be used for warranty work.......IMO

A point worth making, if we only did warranty work we wouldnt be open for very long and there wouldnt be a dealer network for you to buy a Skoda.

agreed, there are dealers out there that are well priced and offer a top customer service.

I'd rather pay a little extra and know my car is in safe hands than go to some back alley garage and take my chances.

I guess it's a case of support your dealer and they will support you.

my fabai vrs is due its 3rd service and its just turned 15 months old....

my second service was

So what makes you think a main dealer is any better than an independant back street garage?

Its a total ripoff at any main dealers and thats why the EU are opening up the competition to other garages ! As for the dealers going bump with no work coming in they can spend all thier time resealing the leaking doors and doing other warrenty work within the 3 year period ! :finger:
