HID failure

Featured Replies

Tonight I was driving my other halfs Octy vRS and pulled over at the side of the road for a few minutes. I'd had the lights on and everything was fine.

On moving off again I switched the lights on and realised that the OSF HID bulb was flickering slightly, I finished my journey and turned the lights off.

I left it five mins and tried turning them on again. Lo and behold, nothing from the OSF at all. Not even a flash, its totally dead.

Has anyone else had this problem with HID on an Octy? The car is only 2 months old and has covered about 1500 miles

Surely Skoda will replace that under warranty? Please tell me they will LOL.

I remember reading of a couple of HID lights failing prematurely, but can't remember whether the outcome was a warranty claim. I'd be very disappointed if it wasn't, though, so speak to your dealer.

Just be thankful that the Octavia comes with 3 years roadside assistance so that they can tow your car to the garage to avoid you (of all people ;)) being in breach of the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989, Section 3, Regulation 23 :D

Well finally got the car into the garage today.

All credit to Caffyns Skoda Tunbridge Wells, it was sorted within an hour and under warranty. The fault was found to be a faulty control unit relay, which had fried itself.

All bright and working again.

No longer will I be in breach of Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations 1989, Section 3, Regulation 23! Woohoo!! ;)
