fabia mk1 windows

Featured Replies

I have a 2005 1.4 16v fabia mk1 saloon and the front electric windows (rear manual) have stopped working ,I have tried the suggestions on the forum without success

I now  need a parts list to check whether or not the window control switch, control unit and   the other electrical parts are the same as a hatchback model before I start buying parts  can any one help?

They will be the same as the hatchback. Have you checked the fuse?

Yes I have checked the fuse its complete mystery

With electrics it's a minefield of mystery, suggest get garage to check it out.

Sounds a common fault that both windows have stopped working..?

I'd put money on it being the drivers side window motor.

I'd start by checking the switch. Whenever it gets cold, my driver one starts acting up. I have a spare one sitting on my desk for about half an year ... but it's just a high level of lazziness. :)

yes both windows have stopped working yet the two buttons for door locking on the same switch unit are working

How about the passenger switch? Is it working?

Also check that full closure works, if you manually unlock the car and hold the key full clockwise the windows should both wind all the way down, if you then turn the key the other way to lock the car and hold the key in that position the windows should both close, if they do then the window switches need replacing, if not then replace the control unit as Tech1e suggests.

I have tried the manual opening which dose not work so I will see if I  can locate a door control unit

I got mines stuck open when the window motor went. Took it off, removed plugs and sprayed it over with cleaner. Put back together and at least the closing them by holding on full lock shut them started working although the switches don't. I'm with Tech1e on this one.

On the plus side also found out why my car is like a penicillin farm after 3 months off the road. Pillock who fitted the door carrier bent it all and water is pouring in when it rains, and as I live on the south west coast of Scotland, that is every day pretty much.
