felicia facia panel removal

Featured Replies

hi, i need to remove the facia panel (the dashboard) am i right that im thinking that its 2 seperate pieces, because i can see screws that hold the upper part to the lower part, in that case i need to remove the upper part only... and do i need to remove the steering wheel? or there is enought room for the upper part to get out?

Im being charged 80euros for just removingthe facia so it would be a great idea to try reoving it myself !

I only removed the dash using the Haynes book to replace some of the dash bulbs so I did not remove the fuse box it was not a problem removing the wheel just remember to put back same as you took off. I would not like to give instructions as im not to good at that so that is why I said buy the Haynes book it's not perfect but it is a lot of help, only one thing disconect the battery before starting on anything.

I got in hand a haynes manual now... i meant the whole dashboard not just the bit where the instrument cluster sits

  • 3 weeks later...

There's all the screws under dash board all those behind and then 4 10mm nuts on top scuttle panel and 2 more 10mm on fire wall then your need to drop steering column

thanks for the reply isn't it enough to remove steering wheel ? i would think thats enough room for the dash to come out. im going to attempt removing the dash this week hopefully, i will keep you updated of the results and hopefully take photos while doing it :)

A guy removing his skoda felicia dashboard.

If you have the speedometer cable, you need first to remove it from the transmission so that when you pull the dashboard the cable can slide along (if that frase is english).

  • Author

When you want to remove the whole thing.

Since i removed the dashboard (with the above technique) i grab the chance to put noise reduction products in the cables (red arrows)

plus in the area that the sit (yellow arrow).

because in the past i has squeeing noises from that areas.

I use cloth tape and self adhesive (fire resistant) product as ''pillow'' so all those won't touch the plastics of the dashboard and won't produce noise while bouncing when the car is rolling in not in good quality asphalt.

Friendly advice for anyone who will remove the dashboard for first time.

Take pictures and notes from the plugs

and the colour of the cables

otherwise you will have major problem in re-installing process.

The far right plugs are for a/c and air recycle (for those who have the latest model).

I grabed the chance to make some tiny repairs, from in-out all these years some plastic sockets were broken.

so i manage to glue a washer to make things more ''tight''.

Not a ''great job'' but for sure is far better now than before.

Take a look how it was one of them

and another one.

Now all of them fixed.

For those which want to find a used gauge cluster here are the labels.

This screw cause me the biggest problem, from all the screws of the dashboard i could reach it no matter how hard i tried and in many ways.

I had no space, i tried normal, short even long screwdriver, Z type screwdriver, ratchet...the result was negative so i abandon any further action.

As for the conditions when you have to work on the side of the road take an example, i had to work on Saturday because the car must be ready in Sunday (i had to go to a wedding)

the rain started but i had to work, i was moving from the cabin to the hood and back in the trunk etc.

I was full of sweat with a t-shirt wet from rain, i got cut  3-4 times in my hands, i was tired but i insisted and i managed to fix everything as i wanted.

That's for @Thefeliciahacker  which finds tasks like this easy and common.

I don't work in the rain

For the one who will make the attempt to remopve the whole dashboard here are some ''sneaky'' screws.

Here is something that i have done many years ago, i removed the glove box cover, fill it in inside with noise insulation layer (was hollow) and replaced some screws.
