How much is it worth spending.

Featured Replies

My 05 Octavia estate has given stirling service over the last couple of years now done 215.000 miles i have covered about 65k in the two years of owning ,been pretty much trouble free done a few jobs that are pretty much routine ,Cambelt /waterpump  12 months ago changed wishbones and recently all discs and pads always using genuine parts ,Last couple of weeks had £1200 repair to tailgate and rear bumper and yeterday changed Clutch and flywheel + slave cylinder and both front shocks and a drop link bar . went to collect and mechanic says front o/s wheel bearing has some play Jeeez another £120 + labour . How far do you go before deciding to invest in newer model (dont want new its a taxi and customers dont respect them )

Surely a keeper after that spending unless something else can go wrong in a big way.

As long as you keep a safe car for the paying customers.

Does the income and your outgoings allow for a upgrade in car will be the decider is it not.

Yep, keep it after all that cost, at least for a while longer.

The cheapest car to buy is the one you already own.

Better the devil you know.

You buy a used car and it may also be due a timing belt or a clutch so that could be a kick in the teeth after already doing it once to yours

Keep it.

Has it had a turbo, it's about the only thing left!

Wot he said, you've just spent a packet so you need a bit of time out of it.

no not had a turbo yet

As others you just spent a packet and the only way you're getting that back is to run the present car a while longer.

Your a taxi driver so no matter what you replace your present car with, you'll still be paying out, for all those miles you cover..

i love this car it does all i want it to do ,its got lots of toys - Air con - cruise control -auto wipers - reversing sensors -superb stereo etc etc etc The mion frighten me with all the extra electrics and dpf digital injectors etc , so if i swap i would want to find a mint example 1.9 td. I had a skoda as my first taxi a 1.3 estelle GL it was awesome and did 300.000 miles almost without problem ,apart from the obvious brakes and service items i can only remember having to change exhaust and a spigot shaft bearing (engine out job took not much over an hour)
