Interior squeaks

Featured Replies

I've had my Fabia MC since January. I have a few squeaks in it, I think they are all down to the interior plastics. Tends to be when I go over a bit of a rough bump in a road. Is this a bit of a Fabia thing? Can anyone suggest anything as I'd be begrudged to have to humour Skoda telling me that they can't hear anything!

since new, my Polo has had rattles in the B pillars and around the glove box area. I have had my dealer look at the B pillar with no results. Which is disappointing really. Sometimes if you apply a silicone spray or polishing wax around the seams of offending panels, that seems to eliminate the offending noise, for a short time at least.

I find rattles incrediably annoying.

I will have a proper look this Sunday, as my new Fabia SE has the squeeks and rattles, it drives me bonkers.

It seems the problem is indeed at the left B Pillar (Glove Box too, RHD), as the b pillar material is firm to the touch, in my opinion it feels like an egg basket you get from wholefoods, so that means that any clips or cables inside (which i'm sure there are) will rattle quite a lot.

Does anyone here have any idea how to remove the covers from the B Pillars? It's either that or ripping it off clean and telling me dealer that it simply rattled it's way loose.

Try the drivers seat height adjuster handle. It rattles against the seat trim on rough road surfaces.

I have to admit my SEL drives me mad with all the interior noises. I'm not sure wether this is because of the interior materials or a lack of adequate dampening. This really isn't helped by the harsh suspension which sends clunks and rattles through the dash. I find that the nearside A pillar rattles a lot because of the harsh plastic construction.

I absolutely adore my Fabia but the dash noises drive me crazy. Its such a shame as the Fabia is by no means a cheap car!

Ok, i'd like to give my thanks to Glosrich, it appears that ONE of the rattles was indeed the drivers seat height adjustment, but i need to mention that this will affect only people of average height (when the seat is pushed slightly further).

I'm 5.7 and my driving position has the handle touching the plastic trim, so i've put some rubber there and there is less vibration now.

As i promised, i will get back as soon as i take the hammer at the Pillars and dent the squeeks right out.

Is there a particular brand of spray that is worth looking at? I've been pressing the panels and I just don't think the N/s rear door panel is as well fitted as on the O/s. Suppose I may try putting a tiny bit of padding in.

I'm thinking of taking my cat out in my Fabia, she's bound to find the exact source of the squeak!

Squeaks and rattles I've found..  Dashboard typically after about 10000 miles, more so when the weather warms up.. plastics expand and contract.. screws become a little looser over time.. more rattles develop.   On the SEL.. centre drivers armrest.. that can rattle.. passenger seatbelt socket when unused can vibrate.. small rubbish compartment (optional extra) in drivers side door can vibrate depending on the position of it and if lid isn't down fully..

trim and dashboard plastic rattles were commonplace on the Mk1 and so it appears on the Mk3.. I tend just to ignore them or put some music on.  I don't get worked up about it anymore.. granted it shouldn't happen, but I expect a lot of other cars are also prone.. I don't think car designers at Skoda/VAG really care quite frankly..

I really wish I didn't get worked up about it,but I do.

Today I switched the music up to a tolerable level and could still hear the glove box rattle.

I'm touring Scotland in it soon so I need to get something done pronto.

A month ago I attacked all the seams between the diffrent interior plastic parts with silicone spray.

It helped, but don't know for how long.

Thanks,might just try that.

Well the silicone spray didn't work so I've placed thin sticky back black felt around the edge of the glove box and the facing edges.

Been out and about in it for two days now and no rattles.

I have had a lot of warranty issues with my Polo that have caused me immense frustration and as a result I dont particulary like the car. At present the car seems to be reliable however the rattles in the B-Pillar remain and continue to annoy me....

This car will be going back at the earliest oppotunity and  never again will I have a  PCP.....

Check your contract. You should be able to Voluntary Terminate once you have paid 50% of the balance, which should save you waiting until the end of the PCP.

All the squeaks and rattles have gone to the back of mind, I used to get annoyed by one coming from the inside door or maybe the glass, I never actually found which.. ah well

I was quoted back in March by a Skoda dealer that I will balance out around September with nothing to owe. Just a shame that I will have lost a wad of deposit and the car has been such a disappointment.
