Fuel gauge - how low dare you go?

Featured Replies

Fill  it and see how many litres you get in then compare with total of fuel tank..

You might be surprised

The Superb II has a 60 Ltr tank but I can only get about 55ltrs in on any refill meaning there is still 5 ltrs after the red and 0 miles left on MFD :peek:

I once put 72 litres in the 70 litre tank of my old V70 - it stops counting down at 15 miles but we did another 30 after that...

When I bought my car it was in middle of last fuel crisis, from Bridgnorth. The dealer directed me to the nearest garage to get fuel but they were out of diesel. I then went back to the dealer but they had shut.

I had an 80 mile trip back to Newport and 5 showing on the range but I remembered a garage from the run up to see the car the weekend before, about 10 miles away, so I went for that.

Sadly again no diesel, and now 0 on the gauge, so I headed for home, just hoping for a garage, and driving like Miss Daisy, coasting down every hill etc.

I passed another garage without diesel and felt destined for an AA callout in my new (to me) car. I reckon I went nearly 30 miles on 0 before I got to a garage that luckily had a tanker pumping diesel at that very moment. Good job the seats were leather and easy to clean....
