CB + Felicia - where to fit?

Featured Replies

I'm thinking about getting a CB for my Felicia, but I have no idea where to fit it...

I've seen some photos of non-damaging antenna mounts, but I can't find any photos showing a good position for the box itself in a Felicia with the gearbox stick console.

Personally I was thinking about mounting it between the wheel and the centre of the car (where the OBD socket should be) or behind the console. But I'm still not sure where to place it (it needs to be accessible for the driver)

If anyone has had any experience with a CB in a Fel, please share them, thanks.

10 4 good buddy. :)

Sorry couldnt resist, I still miss my old cb days. :D

Still got a couple of Audiolines and a Cobra in the cupboard and a Serio 2012 antenna in the garage in bits, damn that was one beast on my roof. :P

I know this is LHD but if your felicia doesnt have that box behind the gearstick as i know not many do could you not fit the unit under the stereo there???? Velcro pads or something??

The problem is I've got the box there (the older type, but still takes up that space) it's the forementioned gearbox stick console... but there's a lot of air behind it, and I was thinking about placing the radio behind the plastic... if only the gauges and buttons were easier to access :/

And a general (a bit OT question to jifster): what's the legal situation with CBs in UK?

(what channels and modes are allowed? any papers needed?)

73!

The old CB days were a laugh, I had an FM one that became legal in the UK years ago. I can't remember whether you need a license for them.

Also used to have an AM and a multi band one. I've still got my old York 863 laying around somewhere but it would ever be the same now

Many a dashboard would be carved up installing these, sorry I can't help with any sensible suggestions of where to mount it.

Over here the "good old days" are said to be over too. But I borrowed Alan 39 for a week recently. And it seems channel 19 is very alive... well I think we should move the I<3CB discussion somewhere else :).

Ok, good idea.

Oh ok, wasn't sure or not because i think it was only the top spec felicias that had the boxes. Hmmmm thinks how big is the unit... would it fit in say the door pocket and a bit of clever thin mdf be put around it and covered in carpet??? Sorry just having random thoughts of where you can mount this unit! Glovebox?

Good luck with it, keep us posted with what you do with it

Some of the modern CB units are much smaller than the ones of old... much easier to fit in than they used to be. See if you can find somewhere that's prepared to let you take one out to the car and offer it up. Don't forget to make allowance for plugs and cables sticking out the back.
