Window Screen Replacement

Featured Replies

My window screen has cracked with the help of a stone by thrown up by a blooming quarry wagon on the M54 yesterday. I drive a Octavia VRS 16 plate.

Advice from my community friends if I may.

Best to go back to the dealer (Skoda dealer) or hunt around (Autoglass et al)?

I want to keep my motor as original as possible - like for like replacement.

What kind of cost am I looking at do you reckon?

Does your insurance not cover a replacement for an excess? Mine is getting replaced tomorrow, excess of £75. Car was 5 weeks old when it happened!

Be aware that as you've got a vRS, you'll also have a lane assist camera. Not all insurance companies pay for the re-calibration of this, which is recommended by Skoda. My insurance refused to cover it and Autoglass wanted to charge me £240+VAT for it, so I argued my case for a couple of days and got my insurance to cover it.

However, from reading on here it doesn't seem like it is entirely necessary, but as the car is pretty much brand new I want it back to perfect.

Mine cracked 150 miles from the shop floor. Auto glass sorted it for a £75 excess and assured me it's an OEM screen. Took over 2 weeks for them to order it in.

Had the discussion about the camera and apparently that's only covered for damage that occurred after 1 April, so they wouldn't do mine. I haven't got it reset but it doesn't appear to need it
