Egr delete

Featured Replies

Right I need a little advice on egr delete

I'm going to do the above, but wondering if when I get the car mapped I will also get the egr mapped out too

Can I leave the egr in situ?

And if so must I still blank it of with blanking plate also?

As I've read conflicting info and I'm now confused

I did read somewhere that leaving egr in situ but mapped out of Ecuador without blanking it of with plates it would cause overboost and limp mode, is this correct info I've read??

Thank to anyone willing to help

I don't know how it works for PD engines but for my CR 2.0 it was disabled by mapping only.

yes you can just map it out, but I always put a plate in too just to make sure nothing is leaking.

thankyou for replies,

this may also help me with my mk 5 golf  overboost issues too, as at the moment the egr is mapped out, turbo is working fine no play on the shaft ect, I get overboost and limp when the car is booted on an incline, the egr isn't blanked off on the car, just mapped out, so now I think ill blank egr with a plate and smoke test the car today for any other boost leaks

Think I've sorted my golf mk5 overboost and limp issue

Smoke test revealed air tight , no leaks

The turbo actuator seemed perfect, held vacuum and I checked also movement with vcds, so I've spent a bit time under my car freeing the vnt lever which was ever so slightly stiffer than I would expect, so plent of releasing agent and plenty of working it up and down through its full motion seems to have resolved my boost troubles,

I have maybe been lucky enough to catch it early or it was only a little corrosion on the outside of the vnt lever that was making it sticky, as I've now put the car through its paces on the same inclines which caused limp, and it hasn't reared its ugly head, approaching a steep incline in 5th gear then midway up WOT , no limp mode or dtc's, also gave the motor some heat by caning it , hoping if internals coked up to burn some of it off

This caused limp mode every time previously

Hi,

have a 4/2007 Octavia Combi with 1.9 PD engine.

EGR is mapped out but I will put in  a plate too.

But where to put the plate in between ? The 1.9L Tdi PD BXE engine has an EGR cooler ?
