shock absorbers making hollow thump?

Featured Replies

Anyone got this? when going over pot holes and minor bumps i get this Hollow thump , i located the sound to come from under the right side of the car, my first thought was the shock absorber but there is a lot of plastic panel's under the car  (bad road package) but as far as i can see nothing is loose.

i had this sound from the car was New but did think it was probably since everything was New and it would get better after some miles. during the Winter i forgot about it cause With stud tyres i could not hear it.

now i got the summer tyres on and i can hear it again...

googled a bit and see that the mk7 golf has/had problems With faulghty shockers and then i think... the skoda and golf have some of the same parts..

anyway i have a 5 hour drive to see the dealer so i hate to drive 5 hours just to be told i am paranoid....

enyone experienced the Hollow thump sound or is it just me.?

had someone else driving so i could sit in the back listening and it seme to be from the right side but you know how it is With noise and rattles, usally they dont come from where you think....

jacket up the car yesterday and checked everything i could Reach With my hands, everything seme to be tight and fine. only thing i could think of was the plastic panel behind the Wheel and the bumper it's not loose but if i tap it With my fist it makes a Hollow sound but driving in bumps shoud not effect the panel other than make vibrations
