2001 VRS - Passenger side rear spring corroded, replace with what?

Featured Replies

Oh no, I promised myself to keep myself out of the upgrade bug... ;-) I am little bit afraid that I end up with a compete LCR/R32 front suspension (and the bushes and (now LCR) topmounts have been replaced just 6 months ago).

The braces are not expensive it seems and so is Whiteline ARB...

Ps. Thanks for all your advice!

The braces are worth doing and make a subtle but notable difference. If you're going to end up with that front end you may want a stiffer RARB than a Whiteline on the rear, the Whiteline is great for improving a standard set up though.

All together (coilovers, LCR front, S3 struts, new ARB's all round and adjustable camber kit at the ear you could spend well over 2k on decent stuff...

That might me a bit of, so I thought of keeping the front ARB standard and combine that with the Whiteline rear ARB (in medium setting?). Combined with used or new S3 struts at the front and Whiteline bushes that correct caster by 0,75. And a nice affordable coilover kit...

The whiteline did feel well matched to the standard front arb, could go on stiff setting, I was going to and then the car died. You can usually get the braces easy enough off breaking cars, think I got both for £45 in very good condition. The s3 lower brace is a bit rarer (plus you could do with the vw/audi rivet nuts for it), you need both together to really make the difference. All that with a half decent shock set up will give a nice result for about £500.

I thought so too, will get some decent results! In Holland there is a parts line which breakers are connected to. You can request the wanted parts and get offers from breakers. Well apparently none of them could offer the struts! The only one I could find in the classifieds are in Germany or England... New is around £ 180...

We have breakeryard.com over here, similar service. Ebay might be your best bet
