Octavia vrs tdi Loss of power at 1500 revs

Featured Replies

Anyone else getting a slight pause in acceleration aroud 1250 to 1500 revs? Skoda have had a look and cant find anything wrong, just wondered if anyone else having same issue?

Is it a dsg? I have this same issue, the car pulls back as if it's going to conk out. I put it down to the dsg gearbox. Be good to know if the same fault. Mine is a 15 plate car

I've noticed an intermittent "flat spot" on my manual VRS tdi recently. Literally last few weeks.

mine was doing this and it developed to the point that the engine would cut out, but would immediately start up again.

turned out to be the manifold boost pressure sensor

The boost pressure sensor is a common fault on the TDI & there is now a recall notice for an update (I dont remember the TSB number but it was posted in another thread).

Early signs can be hesitation from the engine which will turn into the engine warning lamp & limp-home as it gets worse.

You should ask your dealer if they have already performed the TSB update for the Boost Pressure Sensor.

I get something similar, feels like the car is almost "choking" for a split second, then it carries on as if nothing happened. I thought I was going mad....

Do they agree that there's a problem but they can't find a cause, or do they just say there's nothing wrong?

no its manual but it sounds like the same problem

It depends what it is doing. If it is an occasional hiccup for a split second at low throttle then its has been mentioned before. Mine does it too, and it has been explained as an emissions based oddity.

If it is a real flat spot then it is probably an issue, and the boost sensor comments above are probably right. Probably worth a trip to the dealer.

They agree somethings not right but other that a small pause at them revs ( last less than a second) theres not much info i can give them and it only does it now and then so stabbing in the dark cor ideas really will phone and ask about the boost sensor

Its the low throttle hiccup more than a flat spot can go weeks without doing it then it might do it a few times in 1 journey

Yep, also got it on my DSG vas but only mainly in ECO mode (sometimes in normal mode) and it only started happening after I got a new boost sensor fitted when it broke down and had to be towed.

Common problem I am afraid. I am on Boost pressure sensor number 4.

Of curse there is nothing wrong with the car according to Skoda.

Along with the very long cranking before starting on occasions.

Mine does this occasionally, but its very rare. But other members have been reporting them more frequently.
