Soundproofing Octavia III

Featured Replies

For all who made (any) soundproofing of Octavia III - please post your experiences here and/or external references applicable to this topic.

I have some plans on doing deadening of boot for start (2-3mm alubutyl+5-10mm foam) followed with front door (similar setup or 3M / Thinsulate "Acoustic Insulation" instead of foam) and maybe hood as well (dedicated panel or something like Silent Coat Noise Buffler). I'm not intending to do things that would require car to be ripped apart (roof / floor), but rather easily accessible places...unless I go crazy again  > :@ >

I would be happy to see how others approached the problem.

Hi,

I have made similar as this is made by Revolar Estonia

Except, I used Silentcoat Extra (SCE) for whole floor area + Silentcoat 6(SC6) + Silentcoat 35 (SC35) Original under floormat damping removed completely.

Roof original damping removal is PITA as Glue is really sticky, Aceton+ gasket removal spray not work well for cleaning. But managed to took all off and used Silentcoat damping mat+Silentcoat 35 foam for damping the roof.

Doors need's to be still treated, but will do it soon as I get speaker cables measured and  correct connectors for the door connectors (Connector type: Junior Power Timer - 2.8mm contact) could be ordered from Farnell

-Regards

Hi I went for the noise killer full kit.

I have the bonnet pads on, the spare wheel liner added, the boot carpet addes and rear seats pad.

My opinion, the full kit can not be completely mounted as there is a sensor under the passenger side liner so you can't add the sound proofing material.

I still have the whell arches to do but for the moment the engine and echaust sound has well decreased. Now the only anpoying noise is the road noise but I thing changing th tyres for something like vredestein will help.

Also the bonnet pads are starting to peel with the heat. I have made a mail to noise killer and waiting for their answer.

Post a picture if you can.

I brought silent coat from eBay as per he pic. It was easy to fit and has taken away the noise on the rear of the car that I was experiencing. It was adhesive so just had to stick to flooring and cut out to shape of vehicle
