Fabia Vrs Remap switching

Featured Replies

Hi, Im quiet new to this so bear with me! I have beenm advised that you can have the engine remapped and you can switch between remap and standard which you may need to do at service / warranty times? How do you switch between these - Do you copy a program onto a laptop then link up to your engine to switch or is there some othjer way. Any advice about this and havingf a remap done in general would be gratefully received. Thanks

There are many tuners out there offering remaps, the type of remap you choose is down to you. It depends if you want it fixed or switchable, generic or custom. The generic map is just one map that's been created for the car and doesn't take into consideration any other mods you may have. Most generic maps increase power by 30bhp and 50lb/ft torque roughly. The custom map is one that is tailored to your car and mods. If you want to be able to switch your map back and forth you'll have to go for one like the amd one click (which my brother has and is great), which is a small module you plug in and press a button every time you want to switch between standard and modified. The choice is all down to personal preference so you have to make the decision which you go for.

Hope that helps

Custom Code can be swithed via a VAG COM cable and a lap top I believe, and the AmD One-Click can be switched via a small dongle suppied in a few minutes. REVO can also be switched, but you need to invest in a REVO SPS device that is another £150 plus quid on top of the re-map price. These are all uploaded via the diagnostics port so no soldering or fiddling with your ECU is required. UPsolute do a switchable re-map for a lot less than the others but I believe this still requires a physical chip change if you want switchable programs. I've had three UPsolute re-maps and can confirm they are pretty good and do what they say they do, but I've not yet had one of their switchable maps.

Other option is a tuning box that can just be unplugged at service time.

To be quite honest I doubt whether the dealership technicians will spot any re-map as they don't normally take the car for much of a test drive, only time you will have a problem there is if you have an intermittant running problem and need the car back to standard so things can be isolated more easily. If the car is remapped the dealer will just blame that when it probably won't be the underlying reason for the misbehaving.

Hi Yes we can offer you a remap that is switchable.

Custom-Code is a very good remap and you will not be disaponited with it.

www.custom-code.co.uk

This is their web site and this will give you a bit more information.

If I can help you at all please just let me know.

It is switchable via a vagcom cable that you can get off e bay for £20.00 ish and a lap top.

We can show you how this is done when you have the remap done.

You will not be disapointed
