Columbus - How to permanently disable Navigation Announcements?

Featured Replies

I fitted a Columbus last week, and the one annoying thing I have found is the inability to deactivate the Navigation Announcement permanently. I set it in the "Tone" section before, but it seems that setting is not permanent, as the Announcements return after a reboot of the car / restart of the system (not yet sure which of those 2 triggers it).

Anyone have the system behave the same? Any recommendations on how to permanently disable it?

It shouldn't do that.

If the vocal navigation instructions are switched off, they should stay switched off unless reactivated.

What do you mean by 'reboot of the car' or 'restart of the system'? Neither are things (in my mind) that should be occurring on a frequent basis.

System probably hasn't been coded to the car properly.

Is it possible it is running on the ignition on power feed only rather than having a permanent live feed as well?

There's no ignition switched live feed. The unit and car communicate via canbus, so the two need to be coded correctly for that communication to be available.

Press the "Set up" button.

Touch the Navigation tab.

Touch Nav Announcements

Select "Off"

They will remain off until you make a different selection from the same menu.

Touching the Tone Knob will give the current announcement if you want it

Which is the same setting as can be found in "Tone" settings, and that's already been tried and doesn't work. Keeps turning back on again.

Sorry

I turned off the announcements from my satnav a couple of days after I bought the car 2+ years ago. They haven't turned themselves on since and the radio has had a couple of map updates and been unplugged to get at the GPS aerial and reconnected without having to change anything.
