2016 1.6tdi 110hp engine 'resonance'?

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, just wondering if this is normal on a 1.6tdi dsg? Swapped my 1.6tdi Elegance manual for a 1.6tdi SE L dsg last month. Not a great deal of difference between the two tbh, which is fine, apart from not having to change gear, which is excellent, after a recent ankle injury! My question is...at around 75mph,my preferred cruising speed on my way to work, there is a resonance which appears to be coming from the engine or engine bay area. This wasn't present on my previous mk3,so,is it a characteristic of the tdi dsg 1.6,or do i need to make a phone call and get it booked in? If it's a characteristic of this engine, then so be it,but was just hoping some of you guys may be able to advise? Thanks in advance for any help!

Never noticed this on my 2013 1.6 tdi dsg

Is it tyre noise? Have you got different size wheels/tyres on this one?

Hi guys, thanks for your replies....no it's not tyre noise, both cars are on 18" Golus alloys, previously Dunlop SP Sport, this one is on Bridgestone Turanza's. The noise appears around 74 mph,and seems to disappear around 80 mph. The best way to describe it,it sounds like something is maybe not quite tight,ie the engine cover or similar? I should really have a poke around and see if I can see anything obvious! It's not a major thing,I can wait till my first service to let the dealer have a nosey. Thanks again!

The Bridgestones wear well but do have a reputation for noise.
