Just had the first service done.

Skoda Doncaster have just done my 20K miles service.

All went very smoothly and they even picked up and delivered the car back to Langold, about 15 miles away. All was done in the time frame they said.

The only little thing is that the 2.0 TDI 190 is eating tyres very quickly. I had to replace all 4 tyres at just over 21000 miles. At least they are wearing out evenly on all 4 corners. I had 1.6mm left on the fronts and 1.8mm on the rears.

The other issue is with the camber, it was out by a big amount on all corners. I have asked the fitter if it was a set-up problem at the factory as I never had this problem with any of my previous cars (VW Passat, Audi A6, Octavia, BMW 320D.....). He told me it was possibly because of the poor state of our roads but not after 20000 miles.

The Skoda service advisor says nothing!

my mate has a 190 passat and his fronts are getting replaced next week with just over 10k miles on them.

That's interesting info...not that it's a direct comparison for a green line but I'm debating the tyre cover on my lease, which I may do now. Only expecting to do 20k so still a borderline decision.

I work for Bridgestone, it's a company car and we get free tyres anyway.

But as the majority of my driving is on motorways 20K miles is not a lot even if the car is always in sport mode.

At this rate, every time I go for a service, which is about 2 times in a year, I need to order new tyres as well.

I think I am lucky it is a company car, as that is an extra £500 to add to the service.

To be honest I'm quite frankly amazed that the rears are wearing almost as fast as the fronts. It's not four wheel drive is it?

Unless they have given me a very expensive upgrade for free and I still manage to get over 50MPG out of it, No it is definitely a FWD car.

I was quite surprised as well, since I did not rotate the wheels around.

I had my front tyres ( Continental )replaced last week due to my damaging the off-side on a kerb while parking, but the tread was getting low anyway, so I decided to replace it and the other front. The garage pointed out the rear tyres were getting near their limit. The vehicle has only done 16000 miles , the vast majority being motorway. So why the rears should wear so quickly is a mystery. The same had not happen on my previous Octavia Estate when I part ex'd it at 27,000 miles. Also on that vehicle the original battery was still going strong at 7 yrs old whereas the one on the Superb packed up at 4 yrs.

The original battery on my Beetle lasted 12 years!!

Is the car fully loaded at most times? as this will have an effect on wear.

With my SII I was back and forth the airport regularly so more often of not with a fairly heavily loaded car, but I would always get about double the tyre life from the rears as the fronts.

As this is headed 'first service', guess you're on variable, as I am. How long did you drive before it indicated when service was due? I'm at 6k, but no indication yet of when due. Previous A6 did 1k and then said due in 17k.
