Octy 1 gearstick not 'sprung'

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Since I got my Octavia the gearstick has never boinged back into neutral, it feels a little bit soupy and not like other gearsticks in other cars i've driven.

Does anyone know if doing the gear linkage reset trick will solve this? or is the stick not supposed to be sprung?

Also, if someone could tell me where to source a replacement gear lever head and gaiter i'd appreciate it, i've looked around but can only find chrome ones for VRSs and MK2s.

Cheers :)

Devonutopia was giving them away you just pay the postage. Comes as a complete cable and base.

This problem has been talked about before.

See this thread: http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/301757-gear-stick-wont-centre-on-my-vrs/

Solution is in the last post. Cheap solution, just need a bit of time and grease in a couple of places.

See also the video in the thread to check if yours is the same.

Same problem (and solution) on an old Alfa I had.
