What are thes marks on the vent trim?

Featured Replies

Noticed these speckles on the passenger side and centre vent trim after collecting my car from the dealer yesterday.

It looks like some kind of after spray either from cleaning vehicle after shipping or adhesive from having dealer fitted sill trims.

Whatever it is it won't come off so is shortly going back under warranty.

Any ideas on what it could be?

Initially looks like a cleaning spray that hasn't been wiped off, but the front edge in photo 1 looks like it's eaten into the surface?

That's why I never let dealers prep/wash my car! And it's not just Skoda dealers, most dealers if not all are the same. Under showroom light it's amazing how brand new prepped cars are always covered in swirls due to slack prep processes and poor products! Not acceptable, get on to them soon as!

Have you tried a car polish on it, just like looks product stains to me, obviously stains don't just come out with spit and polish and sometimes you have to use something with a bit more backbone.

For me that is normally 3M perfect-it/finesse-it as my fathers retired over 10 years and has some free 20 year old stuff about but it still does the job :)

It would cost me more in petrol to go back to a dealer to have it done or resolved, and all the hassle involved, than it would take to just polish that out is what I would be thinking? Assuming it does polish out that i If not I'd definitely be onto them.

Just hope it's not the dreaded clip on liquid air freshener device that's leaked and melted the plastic.

I have seen so much damage caused by both those and the cardboard ones that sheeple dangle around their cars randomly, blissfully unaware of just how dangerous they are.

Cleaning chemicals I suspect. Lethal stuff if not wiped off thoroughly and immediately.

Is the car brand new or 2nd hand?

I have wishy washy stains all over my dashboard,

I suspect the valeters have been using a contaminated cloth to dust it before I took delivery.

Regular wiping with a slightly wet chamois is gradually easing it.

Just hope it's not the dreaded clip on liquid air freshener device that's leaked and melted the plastic.

...and ineffective. Like pot pourri. have to stick you nose in to smell anything.

No clip on air fresheners used I am glad to say.

If the dealer hadn't been sitting in the front passenger seat explaining various items the wife, who was in the back, would have noticed this before the car left the forecourt. As it was she spotted it within half an hour of returning home and I was on the phone immediately.

The car is brand new from the dealer, picked up yesterday and returned for inspection this morning, New vent grilles and surrounds being supplied under warranty. The dealer is above average and I am expecting no problem.

Is it not evaporation of the cleaning fluid, it's the same principal when you wash your car on a sunny day and dont dry it, the water evsporates and leaves the minerals in the water behind.

Get a damp cloth and it should come off, just remember to dry it, don't leave droplets.

My car had this when I got it.
