Switch for continental use

Featured Replies

Can't understand why if Skoda took the trouble of provide a headlamp levelling switch why there is not a switch to deflect the beams to continental use. I have to buy the dreaded stick on beam converters which wash off in the rain. Some owners say that some headlamp units have a switch to deflect the beam but the unit has to be removed from the car. The tourist lights explanation in the handbook, I believe, only affects roomsters with the beams which turn round corners but even that method is complicated with turning on and off the ignition while selecting reverse gear and turning the headlamp switch to fog light operation. So it appears the only option is a trip to Halfords, or the like

I thought there was a way to reach the levers in the lights without removing the headlights?

Sure there's a guide on here somewhere.

I bought one set of beam deflectors a few years ago. Kept the instructions and nowadays I just put black tape in the position as per insts. Works for me every time.

For the past 2 years when going to France I have never bothered with the beam converters. I put the headlamp levellers to their lowest setting and never have been flashed but this year I am going to Germany and may have to do more night driving. Yours is a good tip for future years!

Pretty sure this applies to the Roomster too given that it uses the Fabia front end. But here is a diagram showing the location of the lever to flick:

Much better solution that dipping the lights down or applying black tape.

On the face of it, yes a brilliant solution. Just wait till you try it though.

Haha... yes... I understand the access is very tight even for a child's hand!

As to why they didn't design them like the Octavia with a thumb screw and a lever and the whole thing slides out is beyond me!
