Key Fob Battery

Featured Replies

I've had my car since late November and today the fob stopped working - had to use the spare to lock the car.

Not very good battery life seeing as I had an Insignia for three years and never had to replace the battery.

That's rubbish.......must be lucky but both the key fob batteries on my Beetle have never been replaced and its coming up 13 years old now!

If the fob battery was running low you should have had a warning appear on the maxi dot display...

Key battery discharged
If the voltage of the key battery is too low, the following message appears in the display of the instrument cluster.
Renew key battery! (colour maxi dot)

KEY BATTERY PLEASE CHANGE (mono maxi dot)

Two years was typical with my Superb II KESSY fobs. Although only one was in regular use, they would expire within a few weeks of each other.

Both the Superb III KESSY fobs are still running strong from last September, as I would expect.

Mine has the CR2025 which is a bit thinner I think.

CR2032 is the KESSY fob battery.

Battery replaced but still not working. Will have to try the synchronising procedure.
