Adaptive Lane Assist

Featured Replies

I have just driven my new Superb up the M1 to Northumberland using the ACC and ADL for the first time. The ACC is excellent reducing the speed every time a clown cuts into the safe space left by the system, increasing once they depart. A great energy saver and a pleasure to have on board. However I tried the ALA but did not get on with it at all well and switched it of. I was hoping it would constantly nudge the car into the centre of the lanes and keep it there, but if you relax on the steering wheel, the car will slide down the gradient until it senses the lines and then react. Am I missing something or is that the way the system is designed? I do realise that the driver is there to do this job and that is exactly what I enjoyed doing, driving the car as it is a superb car to drive on a motorway, but a little assistance can be a help on a long journey.

I fell into the same problem then some members here reminded me: "Adaptive Lane Guidance" needs to be switched on.

It may switch itself off after the engine turns off... But after a few ignition off/on repeats, it should lock the setting (just like the Autohold function... Your car will remember and retain the last used setting if the ignition is switched on and off a few times with the desired setting selected)

Enable the Adaptive Lane Guidance on your Columbus menu for the Car's setting and jump back on a motorway to try again. Oila.

It's definitely something that takes a little time to get used to.

Initially, it can be instinctive to fight the wheel when the adaptive lane assist is doing its thing. Once you learn to work with it rather than fight it, it works really well.

Just beware it can and will disconnect instantly if it doesn't like what it 'sees', especially when going round a reasonably sharp bend.

The lane assist icon will go from green to amber if it's not able to keep tabs on the edges of the lane.

Or, as I found a while ago, it will become confused by the dashed lines at the entrance to a slip road and try to steer you onto it...

Use of indicators cancels lane assist for the time the indicators are in use, maybe thats why Audi drivers have so many issues with lane assist ;)

This alone makes it worthwhile to have it turned on, so you use the indicators more.

I use the steering wheel button to jump to the assist menu and the lane assist is the first option so a quick press of the roller button selects it and then I can turn it off when I move to slower roads.

Hi everyone,

Can someone help me out with this problem about adaptive lane guidance:

Every time when i start my car, I have to turn on "adaptive lane guidance"  on the Columbus menu each time.

Any solution for this?
