Photo request black car with sunset glass

Featured Replies

Very specific as google hasn't been my friend but I'm after a photo of a black magic vrs hatch with rear tints. Anyone have them? I'm in 2 minds as to whether it might make it look a bit Max power.

Thanks chaps. Do you know roughly what percent light passage the sunset glass equates to? I want to replicate in an aftermarket tint.

I'm sorry I'm not sure, I know it isn't 'limo black' as some companies name it. A good tint company, if you are using one will advise you. If you aren't using one then just approach one and enquire as a 'potential' customer. I would say if you have never done it before and are thinking of doing it yourself it can be a real bugger. Me and a friend did my old golf many moons ago and just one bubble and a small crease ruined the whole thing.

No, it will be a professional tint company. I suspect theyre all much of a muchness on national franchises but the limo tint just looks a bit much.

I'm led to believe that the standard factory tint is 20%, although the sunset glass fitted by Skoda looks slightly lighter than this.

I decided to wait until delivery of my Octy and went aftermarket with an 18% tint and I'm really happy.

My car is Race Blue though and has chrome window surounds which frame the tints nicely.

Limo tint will be for too much, especially on a black car.

I like the 18% on the blue wagon, looks subtle but stylish.

It's the fact that it's a black car, with black rubber surrounds on the glass that's put me off a bit. On a colour car, it's much less offputting, I just want a bit of heat deflection for the kids in the back, if a light tint will make any real difference?

I'm thinking 'Twilight'  (not that christ awful teenage emo angsty ****)

I'd like something in between the Twilight and Luna if I'm honest. Twilight looks a little half hearted and Luna is too much, sorry that doesn't really help and it's just my opinion of course. I take your point about the rubber surrounds making a difference over chrome. Can you retrofit the surrounds, is that an option to you? Do you lower the rear windows often? I have seen a product that is customer fit, it's a piece of semi rigid plastic that is tailor made for specific cars and fits on to the inside of the window. It's tinted to your request and is see through as a normal tint. Only problem is you can't put the windows down - now I've written it down they sound cr4p but it's an option

If you just go to a specialist they can show you examples of the different tint types fitted to cars - that's how I chose mine.

This is the company that did my tints (Junction 1 M8 & M9 @ Edinburgh Airport).

I'm not sure where in the UK you are but at least their gallery might assist with your decision making?

Mallettsmallett, mine's the same as the indoor pics in auditek's post. It doesn't look naff. My Pictoris wheels contrast nicely with the black magic. IMO.

Thanks. What level of light transmission is that? That's what I'm trying to ascertain, so I can replicate anything I like the look of.

Sorry, MM, I haven't got a clue. Got mine as a used buy having been a Skoda UK car, so came as is. No information on what tint was/is fitted as standard.

(But the leather heated seats and Pictoris wheels with steeel spare weren't standard :))
