Service Schedule

Sounds like l have started something here.....the reason l ask is looking at our service info the inconsistency between what was put on the sheet, what's in the service book and what was online is bonkers!

Had an inspection here, should have had a filter there but you don't get because it's not due according to Skoda UK, then you have just the oil change but we will do brake fluid too....nothing is clear cut with them. When questioned with images from the service book the response was we only change what is said....when questioned about pricing they didn't respond.

Having taken my previous cars to specialists l think my Fabia will end up somewhere else too, somewhere that can be trusted!

"Fixed price" servicing - before they start, you have to sign a contract agreeing the work and price. Price is fixed, but the work is dictated by Skoda's server which looks at your history and prints out a custom worksheet based on the service schedule that skoda uk maintains, similar to what used to be printed in the user service booklet. So each major service is in fact a bit different.

My dealer says Skoda Uk do not allow them to show you worksheets, schedules, technical service bulletins, diagnostic printouts even whether your ecu firmware was updated or not as they claim only Skoda UK know whether it was automatically updated while the machine was plugged in.

My dealer always put a part empty bottle of washer fluid on the passenger seat.

I have not read all this, but no one has mentioned the free vac and wash?

One aspect of VAG main dealer servicing that annoys me is, if you buy a used "approved" car, that car gets an oil change (and maybe a filter) prior to be resold, also the service indicator gets reset.  All good, but, as time goes on, in my case, Audi is trying unsuccessfully to get me back at strange times - that coincide with the car's "birthday" to carry out other small jobs, in the last case, being recalled for servicing 7 months after having a "big" variable service being carried out, people really want to use their cars and not just hand them in every few months for different service tasks to get carried out, now I suppose I've screwed up my "MOT repair cover" thing now, but - too bad!

A Skoda Approved car does not mean you get an Oil change or any service work.

'Workshop safety checks by a qualified technician'.

If a service is not due then there may not be one done and the System should not show as service as done.

If you buy a 'Skoda Approved Used Car'  you need to ask to see the Invoice for the work, parts listed and who signed it off.

Obviously some places do the right thing, and others treat the cars being prepared as they do with Customers cars being serviced....

Just found the last service quote for son's fabia which was on variable servicing.

£189.50 for minor, £279.50 for major, spark plugs not included (I think it was about £90 extra)

These prices were before the 1st May price hike that also saw the brake fluid change go up to £59 from £49 - a 21% increase.

I asked to be changed back to fixed and have a minor service for £139 (now £149), but service manager said no, that's not possible I can't change back from variable to fixed. ***What???*** refused point blank to back down.

So goodbye, I'll do it myself, and good job because that's when I found the overtightened oil filter with the damaged sealing ring (same thing even worse on other son's Octavia) and a rusty old reused many times wrong size sump plug.

Dealer/Skoda deluded thinks they are a premium brand up there with Audi, BMW, or Mercedes (well not Mercedes whose servicing costs require a mortgage apparently)

Apparently might not be the same as actually.

Check out Service Plans with BMW and Mercedes and see what you get nit what might or might not be done.
