Formula One Car Collection models - anyone else?

Featured Replies

You may or may not have seen these advertised on TV, especially in ad breaks when the F1 is on (duhh!)

Anyway, anyone not familiar with them - it's a Panini product (those of the Football sticker albums fame) whereby every fortnight you can buy a magazine with a 1:43 model of a Formula One car attached. The first issue was £2.99, the second £5.99 and from then on each issue is £9.99.

Here's the website: https://www.f1carcollection.com

If you subscribe to them direct, you also receive a bunch of free gifts - four or five extra cars, some DVD's, a binder, and two model transporter trucks as well, a Scuderia Ferrari and Mc.Laren Honda.

However - the full collection runs for two and a half years in total, so dedicated subscribers will receive 60 model cars at a price of just over 600 quid...

I've always been cynical about these types of collections, the cost for one - but I bought the first two issues and I was pretty much smitten from day one! In my opinion, the models are obviously not the last word in detail correctness - but for the price, I think they're pretty damn good. The magazine is also quite nice - ok, you could easily find all the information on the net, there's nothing new in them - but they're nicely printed on decent stock, and have a nice bit of history on the car, team and drivers, plus a little pull-out on the technical aspects.

Anyway here's a pic of my first four models:

Is anyone else collecting? What do you think? Be interested to know.

Cheers :D

I'll watch this thread with interest to see if you manage to get the full collection - and then somewhere to show them off. ;)

Well unless they stop doing them or something, I WILL get the full collection because I've subscribed.

However - 60 cars and two Transporters are gonna create a display challenge, I grant you. I have several shelves in my bedroom with Radio controlled cars, helis and lego on....and these first four models have already taken up the last few square centimetres of room haha!

Any other Briskodians got a big collection - what are you using to display them, shelves, glass cases, what? I am thinking that cases would be best to avoid dusting...

Im thinkin coops andhis lego for display ideas..

Got a "few" Lego models!

Smaller Speed Champion ones are in an IKEA glass cabinet along with some of my diecast stuff, but to be fair the majority are still in their boxes in the loft. Just haven't got the room to put them all out.

My larger Technic models are randomly scattered about the house in the best locations I can pinch from the OH.

Nice! I wonder if I'm too late now, or if I can get the issues that have been released so far. How many have been released?

Subscribers are on issue 6, got a feeling that newsagents are on issue 5.

Have a look at the website, it looks like you can still subscribe and get them all from issue 1?
