Oil

Featured Replies

Alright then guys I topped my oil up nearly 600 miles ago and it hasn't used a drop! I'm so happy about that because I no how much of a problem these engines are!

Anyone else got one that doesn't drink!

most don't..... I've had 2 and done over 100k... but being a forum where people come to fix problems, they are highlighted....

I would have another :)

I've had mine 2 years from new and never put any oil in it. (. 14 plate cthe)

I bought a '12 plate CAVE 4 weeks ago with 400 miles on it. Just turned 1800 miles and oil hasn't moved on the dip stick yet. Fingers crossed it won't either! I have been gentle with it but I'm gradually stretching its legs more often now. I can't believe how quick these are as standard!

Well, this is probably not helpful (and sorry for the hijack) but the '05 plate Kia Rio I have owned for the last 8 years and 117,000 miles has never needed a drop of oil between services ever. It's a Mazda 1.3 engine. I pick up my dads 10' reg Fabia 1.2 HTP next week so can I expect the same sowing machine reliability?

so can I expect the same sowing machine reliability?

No, but you can expect a sowing machine type sound... ;)

That made me laugh......I think.  I've only really driven it once or twice and now you mention it..............................

He is getting a 1.2HTP (3 cyl) not a 1.2TSI - I thought that it was mainly the 1.2TSI engines that were getting slagged for sounding like a noisy sowing machine?

Never put a drop in my 1.2 tsi in between services.

I usually have to top around 2 litres between annual service. Only £15 quid or so, so doesn't really worry me too much :-).

Mine uses next to nowt, but I have insisted on 10k oil changes rather than long life,

Do you mean fixed servicing at 9,400(10,000) miles 372 Days rather than going with Variable Servicing and using Long life OIl?

Many have Fixed Servicing but the dealer will still put in 5w 30 Full Synthetic Long Life lll (VW 504 00)

You can if you want with fixed servicing at 10,000 miles use 5w 40 Full Synthetic (VW 502 00)

even have cars running an ickle lower Oil Temp, and an oil user using a bit less oil.  IME.
