Windscreen Washer Fluid Tank Issue

Windscreen Washer Fluid Tank Issue:

Hi,

even though I have brimmed my washer tank the warning light is still showing, so I guess that the float sender in the tank is shot.

How easy is it to get out, as it looks like its buried in the drivers side wing.

Anyone got a part number please.

08 Pre FL 1.9PD 170 VRS Estate.

Thanks in advance

Lee

I think you can access the sensor by removing the foglight assembly.  Plus, I have a feeling it is in't a float assembly, but more likely 2 metal prongs which will probably just need cleaning up (but don't quote me on that!).

Not sure about screen wash but the sensor prongs furring up and giving a false reading in the coolant tank is pretty common.

If you can reach try giving the prongs a scratch with a screwdriver. Might do the trick.

any one done this before?  how easy is it to remove the fog light?

All of my spannering goes to my local independent garage, but I forked out 500 notes yesterday for Mot, pads, service and a faulty fuel tank sender.

Cheers

Can't help with accessing the sensor but do second what aspman says. Had same issue myself and garage just cleaned it up. IIRC the sensor isn't expensive if you need one.

I flush the washer tank once a year. It takes about 5 minutes to remove the plastic trim, unscrew the fog lamp and pull the pump out to drain it.

Don't know about the sensor but the pump pulls upwards to remove it once it's unclipped from the bottle. Looking at it, the sensor just pushes in though.
