VW airbags

Featured Replies

In the U.S. buyers of new cars, including VW, should ask, and get an answer to the question; does my car have a Takata airbag, because they are considered to be potentially fatal and are required to be replaced by 2019 at the latest .

Many many millions are involved.

Do EU manufacturers install them I wonder.

I'm inclined not to trust govt departments who often appear to want to cooperate with manufacurers as a priority over the consumer.

There are just sooo many that will be replaced eventually but it will take comsiderable time and I'd like to know one way or the other just for my own peace of mind.

I parked a fiesta van on its side in a field once, having stuffed it through a hedgerow, and rolled across said field. Airbags never deployed.. went through the earth bank of the hedge at about 35-40mph..

reckon its why i was thoroughly uninjured - i was braced off the footwell and steering wheel..
