Weird noise

Featured Replies

If I blip the throttle or pull away, there's an odd sound that makes a hollow sort of vibrating noise.

It sounds exhaust related, at the front of the car.

Is this a characteristic or not, it's not horrendous but wondering if I should get it looked at, thanks.

Maybe change your profile to include the engine variant fitted to your car, or edit your posting to include that to make things a bit clearer?

Sorry, it's a 1.2 tsi 90hp.

How many miles has the car done?

  • Author

Just over 500 now.

All I know is that a new exhaust has to build up a little 'soot' inside and they it may go quieter.

Not technical I know but give it a little more time maybe?

I will, I'm sure it's nothing serious. Thanks.

Mine does this, but usually only when the engine hasn't warmed up. Kind of like a throaty induction roar.

Think it's to do with the cold map of the engine and airflow through the airbox and various valves, which change as the engine warms.
