vRS Alternator Pulley

Featured Replies

How many mk 1 owners have got a clutch pulley on their alternator? Reason I ask is that on mine it has a fixed pulley, but the oe system lists it as clutch type, the webcat we use also says clutch pulley, and a few underbonnet pics I have seen also show a clutch pulley??? slightly confused now.....

never came across a clutch pulley on an alternator before all the cars I've had have always had a fixed pulley. could you be confusing it with the AC unit as they tend to have a clutch pulley on them in the octavias

nope, definitely alternator. Quite a few cars from the early/mid 00's had them fitted, helps to damp belt resonation

I was under the impression that it was only the tdi's that had the one way clutch on the alternator? I know my TDI has.
