An accessory rant (sill trims)!

Featured Replies

I purchased some black and silver genuine sill protectors today. Although they come with instructions on how to fit them they do not give any measurements as to exactly where on the sill they sit. According to the instructions you have to purchase a template separately! So you have to buy an accessory to fit an accessory. That's just stupid Škoda! I fitted mine ok without thanks, but surely a paper template should be included with the parts. It's like buying a new Ikea wardrobe with instructions on how to put the screws in but you have to buy the rest of the instructions on how to put it together!

It's so that you'll get the dealer to fit them (at a cost) rather than DIY it.

I also DIY fitted mine, with the help of some members here that were kind enough to measure the position of the trims relative to some reference points (trim seams).

My last car (Citroen C4) actually had intents in the sill metal to show where the trims should be aligned to, making DIY fitting a doddle.
