How can it be an "offical" thread if you're non-staff then, James ? ;)

Because I think I am good enough to name it as 'OFFICIAL' and I wanted more people to look at it, as they would want to be a part of this wonderfull thread :D

Officialdom sucks!

what exactly are you after james?

my local shop has 3 JBL kits left that will it the fabia

comes with 12" sub, components, 6x9's, amp and wiring kit

£560 reduced to £250 special limited offer.

Just after some decent components for the front, unfortunatly my small boot is used too often for a sub...

I just get too confused with mounting depths etc, so thought it'd be easier for the Fabia owners to step forwards with what they have so I can mearly copy them :P

After searching I read all to many posts from people saying the comps they bought didnt fit, I just dont want to be in the same boat as them

But being in the same car is OK, right?

Yup, as long as they dont drive a Fabia 2.0 in blue with Dunlop SP tyres :P :P

Ahh, my old thread pops up now and again, I see :D

James, I can do some digging around, but take a look at www.caraudiodirect.co.uk as I said. Very friendly people, plus they have their dedicated www.talkaudioco.uk forum with people who know much more about ICE than I do ;)

I will happily help you fit in exchange of a few beer tokens if you want. You're in MK yes?

I need to go up to MK soon for a service so maybe I could combine a trip to the stealers (ahem!) and a quick ICE install. Although if you have a garage, it will help. Doing this when it's cold outside with numb fingers is not nice :(

As you don't have room I suggest some 6.5inch components for the front. You will be a bit limited as they can't be too deep. I fitted some 5.25inch Diamond M6 components and they were pretty decent but it was all part of a "bigger picture" setup with sub. Since the 5.25inch M6s don't have the best bass response I wouldn't recommend them for you. What is your budget. That is a good starting point.

Do you want to amp them or not Walkie? I'll be looking at the Rainbow SLC 265 Kicks (

Are there any other components which have been successfully installed into a fabia though?

the rainbow vanadium comps look nice but i'd want the tweeters to fit beneath the existing grille..

Righteo this is looking better

Xav – thanks for your kind offer, once I’ve found some I’ll be ordering them asap, so we’l talk more via msn :)

6.5” is a must in my eyes as I just will never be able to have a sub.

£150.00 ish is my budget as I’ll be needing sound deadening aswell

So I guess what I am looking for is some decent comps that WILL fit in the fabia at £150.00 and 6.5”

Cheers :)

Will you simply be running them off the head unit i.e. no external amp? If so, then don't even look at big power speakers, aim for maybe 70-90W RMS, or they will distort due to being underpowered.

Good question Tom.

No amperage I am afraid, just want it nice and simple for now, will be run off my Alpine Head Unit :)

Have a look at these:

CDT Classic Components

I run CDTs in my Octy and they are quite simply amazing, their not that well known in the UK but their starting to get their name about and their very highly thought of.

http://www.cdtaudio.com/classic_series.htm

They give fantastic mid-bass that really wouldn't leave you wanting for a sub.

PM me if you'd like a special Briskoda price ;)

Hi, Si (say that quickly it sounds Chinese)

They do look interesting, any ideas on mounting depths? My only concern is the oodles of power they can handle when realistically they’l only be getting 50W RMS ea.

PM me some prices

If you don't yet have the sound-proofing, maybe Si can help there too ;)

Highly recommend sound proofing the doors makes a big difference.

I run 6.5" Components made by Ground Zero from Germany.

The Woofers fit perfectly when the rubber cup is removed from the magnet.

The tweeters fit fine behind the OEM grill.

They have a decent crossover unit for each side.

They're £80 a pair.

I think they sound great for the ££$$.

I run them off a Boston Acoustics amp, fead by a Pioneer HU.

Edited to add: I used to run Focals in my last car and these sound a lot nicer imho.

I'm starting to realise now my inifinity kappa 5.1s could do with being amped, but I don't really want to use one... mainly due to weight and bulkiness. Anyone know of a decent (say 2 x 120w RMS) amplifier that will fit in the cubbyholes underneath the Fabia seat?

2x 120w RMS for the front components?

My amp is only 2x40 (or 45?) RMS and it's plently loud!

My Kappas are rated at 100w RMS, so I guess I could use something around 80w RMS per channel? Not sure. I was using my Kenwood before, but thats way too big to fit under the car seat - I'd need something pretty darn small.

(you never know though - I might just leave them HU powered - they sound OK now)

Where did you get them Josh? Were they like THESE ? (Link to German eBay)

Cheers,

Steve
