1.4 Tsi 150ps

Featured Replies

I have had my 140ps version in my Golf MK7 estate for nearly two years & it feels as fast as a MK4 Golf GTI !!

These engines are turbo only & that is a Light Pressure version, VAG dropped the turbo/supercharger versions due to problems...

The 140/150 engine only has the ACT & ECU software differences between them. The 140PS when run on Shell Nitro (super unleaded) produces around 154bhp & the 150PS version does not gain the same amount. Basically the 150 is pushing it with the VW mapping, where as the 140PS gains!

Remember these engines produce 250Nm of torque from about 1700rpm...believe you me these cars are fast out on the real road!! & unlike my Fabia which loved the redline these 140/150PS engines do very little after 5000rpm, best is 2000-4000rpm...

I have the multilink rear on my car & having driven the twist beam version I can tell the difference & the multilink is way better, I also have the factory fit sports suspension. & as for wheels I have two aftermarket sets of 17" alloys running 225/45 tyres, same width as MK7 Golf R (R has 18" rims though)

time will tell and I'll find out for sure in a years time.

The standard 16" wheels definitely take the car into the £30 tax bracket.

I did two things - as advised here I checked my Reg' V5C document. If the emission figure is below 120 (mine was 119) then it is £30.

I also emailed DVLC, and of course they confirmed it was £30.

I have Octavia 1.4TSI 150PS and V5C states co2 as 120 G/KM.

As per the link below up to and including 120 g/km equates to £30 tax 121-130 equates to £110 tax.

Hope this clears things up.

PS I have 17 inch wheels from factory on my car !

Damn... just checked my V5 and my CO2 emission is listed at 121 G/KM so it'll be an extra £80 for me next year!!!

Personally I'd still rather run around on 18" rims and pay the extra tax than run on the standard 16" wheels.

I'm not sure if you're talking about a Golf or Octavia, but the Octavia doesn't have ACT.

To be honest , I bought my car from stock and had no idea what wheel size was, only know the dealer confirmed to me it would be £30 tax when I signed up for it and the V5C confirmed this when it arrived through the post !

1.4 140bhp in an estate on 16" rims. Quick, £30 tax, 40mpg and fun! Still enjoy driving it after 12 months
