My wife has just taken delivery of a new Octavia.  She was a Vauxhall owner when I first met her, then she had a string of Fords, but this time she has gone with a Skoda.  First time for both of us!  The main reason was the very helpful dealership, although we both know people with Skodas who have been very pleased with them.  First impressions, great.  Neat design, details well thought-out, and a nice eager engine (2-litre diesel auto).  We've had a couple of minor issues so far, but I will ask the questions in a new thread. Look out for some dozy questions until we get the hang of it  Nice to meet you all.

Hi, welcome to the forum.  The 2.0TDi DSG is a nice combination for the Octavia and should make it a really pleasing drive.

Thanks folks. Yes, the engine and DSG combination is a good one. She had a similar layout on the last car (Ford C-Max 2.0 DSG) but I think the Skoda implementation is slightly better. It holds its gear downhill better, for one thing. It seems to hold a low gear a lot longer at low speed, though (such as slow driving in a car park) which makes it sound quite revvy, but overall it's pretty impressive.
