VRS vs GTD ad A3 TDi - Best option?

Looking to replace an Audi A6, bought as a short term fix two years ago but despite being high mileage (now 113k) has proved an excellent choice but being a 140 is underpowered and it's now time to look at something newer.

I'd love to stick with Audi but the only TDi A3 available until next year on account of the model change, is the 150 and having driven one, it's no slouch but it isn't a sporty drive by any stretch of the imagination.

That means it's Golf GTD/ GTI or a VRS. Any views from buyers on which way to go? Looking closely at the prices quoted so far, there's not as big a difference between the two by the time the spec's are adjusted. Not driven either yet but have a GTD lined up later this week.

Also interested to know anyone's thoughts on the VRS 4x4.
