Where's the cheapest place to get some grooved front discs, cant handle the vibration no more :D .

Either will be better than standard but I'd go for drilled on a road car.

My grooved discs make the trim rattle under harsh braking, love the noise though :cool:

Why drilled they can crack or are prone to it, unless you get porsche forged...

Grooved, vibrate?

Luckily I've had neither with not cheap discs by black diamond, 20+k of hard use and almost like new :D

Drilling can help to reduce fade - I diddnt know they were prone to cracking.

I can agree with Colin that his done vibrate anywhere from 130mph to zero ;)

I have grooved discs and not a hint of vibration....also using DS2500 pads.

I would never have drilled disks again as I have had 4 sets crack on me, but then it could be me using greenstuff pads which are also notorious for that!

My understanding has always been is that with drilled discs you introduce a point a point of potential fracture, round the drill point?

I see Black Diamond grooved fronts for an Octy vRS are £172 a pair from Motorsport World. Is this a good price? In the future I'd like to get some of these, when I get my 312mm upgrade fitted, and wear through the supplied OEM discs!

I suspect the problem with the driled discs is due to expansion and "hoop stress".

You learn something every day ! To think, I was looking at getting some in the spring.

Adrian, can you remember where we eventually got our discs from? I seem to remember a bit of a wait, and lots of "tomorrow"s, but a decent product at a very good price in the end. Sejoc?

black diamond drilled and grooved are pretty indestructible... use ds2500 (or 3000 if you are a hero) dont under any circumstances use green or ref stuff..

pagid pads are v good also... (as shifty will learn.....)

Black Diamonds can be had from Demon Tweaks and other places, bear in mind we get a 10% knock down from DT.

Pad wise, Pagid (reminds me to type up the pagid offers we have) or Ferodo 2500+

I'm not exactly mr sympathetic to mr brakes, everything else yes a little, but brakes no...70+ to zero pressing the pedal after the 100 yard marker frequently and no issues. I guess it's luck / combo of discs and pads. I was weary of drilled, less so now, watch the blasted things crack tomorrow...oh well 335 ap6 pots it would be.

or a chepaer(probably not better ) option is ATE power disk.used these on prevoius car, brakes never faded on track or road,these and pagid FR pads are a cheaper alternative to the above,but not tried black diamond or ferrodo's

Yep, twas Sejoc but they apparently no longer do brake discs.....pity.:(

They are EBC discs with Sejoc sorting out the grooves....I believe. Approx

1) DS2500. A bit iffy when cold, generate quite a bit of dust, but stop very well when warm. Resist fade very well.

2) DS3000. Brakes? What brakes? when cold. Spit hot chunks of metal into your wheels when used. You brake (sic) your nose on the windscreen when they're warm. Don't fade.

...and DS3000.......squeel like a pig...errr...squeeling. ;)

never had any probs with cold 3000s but then my car was a lot lighter than a 4x4....

i always found the 2500s a bit mince....... they didnt stretch the harnesses or weld hot metal into the rims...

but on 3000s i could outbrake anything.. and i do mean anything. Col will vouch for pulling harnesses tight enough to hurt @ anglesey and then after 2 laps taking up 1" + of slack.....

DS3000s :D Love 'em. Once they've got some heat in they are mega, as Paul says, you'll outbrake most stuff.

2500s are better for road use though. Again as Paul says, don't go with the EBC stuff for track use. I set fir to my Red stuffs :eek: :D

DS3000 make a mess of your wheels and they do squeal worse than the guy in Deliverance :D

Get grooved and fit them the right way round , hi Adrian :wavey:
