TPMS problems

Featured Replies

I bought a 2007 Octavia vRS in February of this year. I really like the car ( my wife already had a fabia vRS ) and it seems that there are no major problems.

Recently the TPMS light came on. It's a solid light, does not flash, and refuses to go out if I push and hold the TPMS reset button. I have had a fault code reader on the diagnostic port and that displays "No codes".

Tyre pressures are all fine, I have read the descriptions on here about how the system works ( or doesn't )  . I wondered if it was an abs sensor playing up but I would have expected another light to appear if that was the case.

It's not the end of the world, as I understand it not an MOT failure, but it is irritating and I wonder if it's a symptom of something else

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance

You're not mistaking the brake pad wear light for it?

Surprised it's on with no codes. Brake pad wear doesn't show codes which is why I'm suggesting that.

TPMS warning can appear without any particular problems. At least I have experienced that.

Should disappear after holding it for a few seconds. Maybe you should hold it for a longer period?

Make sure you hold the button down until it makes a "bong" sound.

I don't think so. It's  a tyre in section with an exclamation mark . I googled Octavia warning lights when it came on and it matches pictures of the tpms light

I have tried holding the tpms reset button in for many seconds. No bong, light remains.

TMPS runs off the ABS sensors so usually if it has a problem you'll also get ABS and TCS errors.

when you get in the car before you drive anywhere hold it down then otherwise it wont clear.

obviously with ignition on.

The procedure I have tried is turn on ignition, press and hold down button, count for one, two, up to thirty seconds. Nothing happens, Light remains, no bong.

Does the button light up when you press it?

Also did you scan with a generic fault code reader or vcds?

Generic readers only have access to obd engine faults, whereas this will be under Abs faults

I had a VW specific ODB2 reader but not VCDS it would list ABS faults, I used it to check my G201 error.

Check tire pressure

Ah.. I think we are getting somewhere. No the button does not light up when I press it and yes it was a generic code reader. Looks like a trip to someone who knows what they are doing, ( and tyre pressures were fine)

thanks
