Anyone tucked an amplifier in Fabia front seat cubbyhole?

Featured Replies

Just wondering if anyone has successfully installed an amp under a Fabia seat - and still got the door closed afterwards too?

I want to stick something teeney weeney under there, but something capable of packing a reasonable punch. (say no more than 2 x 100w RMS)

Whilst on the subject, anyone successfully installed better woofers in the parcel shelf mounting points? I'd like to change those as they sound pants. (try putting all the bass back there and you'll see what I mean - fart fart fart fart....)

The space in the underseat boxes really isn't that big: to get the hideaway unit and CD changer for my Pioneer under the passenger seat, I had to hack the box and replace the transmission tunnel side of the box. You could extend the box backwards by a couple of inches, though - depends on what shape you need. Oh, and the door's inside face is curved, so beware fitting rectangular objects!

Don't mind a bit of butchery. :D I reckon there's amps out there about the size of a CD changer and that other thing you have. Might have to re-evaluate the cubby hole size to see. :)

Or you could simply buy a nice good looking powerful amplifier, stick it in the boot and mount it on to your rear seat, and get a stinger fan mounted ontop of that to cool it down when riding :)

Maybe not in the cubby but up and behind it.

Have a look at Genesis Profile 2 amps. They're small, slimline, fan cooled and good quality. My 'other' amp is an Infinity RA7502 and it's currently in a box in the lounge as it's too large to fit in the Fabia without too much compromise of boot space.... and the boot is about the only place I could fit it.

On the subject of the rear fill speakers, I wouldn't bother with the factory locations. They're tiny, tinny and crap.... but you knew that :) Not saying they can't be improved but the diameter is limited by the width of the parcel shelf supports. Could possibly ditch the rear fill and fit a sub or tiny (5") subs into boot side panels but that would involve a reasonable amount of fabrication.

I intend to get a Genesis profile 2 amp to power some Rainbow components. I'd love a sub, but I think the sound will be more than ample

I hadn't really considered installing under the passenger seat though, although that would be ace!

Look forward to seeing what you can do J.
