Ok so go to pick daughter up from school car starts fine. Go back to car and battery dead. Get it jump started and get home and it's showing 12.2v at battery and 14.4v running so all seems well there but VCDS scan is awash with intermittent faults and controllers not active such as infotainment.

The battery has been on the car as long as I've had it so no idea if it's been changed or when. So, new battery time. Go onto euro car parts to price up a Bosch S4 075 but EcP telling me it should be an 012 yet the car has a 075 fitted and the woman on chat is telling me that is wrong? What battery should I have?

Also while under the hood checked fuses in ebox and noticed that the larger Grey relay in R4 was quite hot. Anyone know what that's for? Can't find any info in manual or net regarding relays.

Yeah perhaps it is as this was the largest for the TDI. However this seller posts next day for your size too I'm sure Perhaps upgrade it a little yourself.

ok so ive replaced the battery and now i have a whole host of fault codes that wont erase and i have the airbag warning light on and no stereo.  Have checked all fuses and all are ok.

Not worried about the low refrigerant one as i know the system needs regassing but have no radio :no: .  Checked all the fuses including the one in the back of the HU and they aare all ok, even swapped the 15A radio one with rear wiper one and fuse definately ok.  getting power to the fuse in the ebox, just appears as somethings not communicating?

Is it the standard headunit or aftermarket?

 

Did you check that you were getting 12v at the headunit connector on both the power pins?

It is a standard unit yes. Just basic stream. havent checked power at HU will do that now and report back.

Done all fixed and no fault codes present except aircon one which needs regassing and one for headlamp washer relay. Anyone know where that's located?

No idea what caused radio fault. Unplugged radio, checked and had power at plugs. Placed circuit tester over both pins of fuse and all ok. Decided to change fuse just to eliminate that. Plugged back in and radio fired up. Removed new fuse and put old one back in and radio still working. Guess just some sort of gremlin in the system.

The headlight washers are probably a blown or even missing fuse looking at other reports of the same error code.

 

In another thread, it was suggested it's fuse 36 in the panel at the drivers side of the dash. Remember that numbering is mirrored so it might not be the first fuse you think it is...

Yeah already checked every fuse in that fuse board so I know they are all ok. Wait for it to stop raining and I'll replace it anyway as I have loads laying around.

The Varta E44 type 096 is exactly the same battery as the Bosch S5 only cheaper. Can highly reccomend. Tanya were the cheapest when I last looked.
