2015 DSG fault

Featured Replies

Today my 10 month old 1.6 DSG Octavia estate came up with error - Reverse not available also lost 2,4,6 gears.pulled over, switched ignition off, waited then restarted error gone drove fine for 5 miles then error again. Is it CPU or gearbox?.

Sounds like a software issue to me, get it scanned for a code.

Yep, sounds electrical not mechanical, maybe refresh the software?

Could very easily be the mechatronics unit in the gearbox. Not that it'll matter, it's covered under the warranty. Get it to a main dealer for exact diagnosis and repair.

Why worry?  Whatever the problem is it will be covered under warranty.

The only time you need to worry is if you accidentally drive up a dead end street and it happens.

Except warranty does not last as the car average lifetime of 10 years (if this is the op case) and any possible gearbox issues now that could be reflected in the future when the warranty runs out are not a pleasant thought, especially considering dsg service costs.

I am having the same problem with my 6 year old 1.6 DSG Octavia. It has only done 31000 miles! Can you tell me what the final outcome was please? What was the problem?

How much is the extended warranty? And how long does it last ?

Anyone with a 2013-2015 DQ200 DSG needs to check.

Has the car been in for the Service campaign '34H5' , for some 2013-2015 DQ200 DSG a Software update.

Started in UK early 2017, many many cars should have had it and have not.

There were issues, hence current Australian Recall.

Read here and the Extended Warranty link is at the end.

Issue is where the Warranty claim gets knocked back as they say Known Issue.  Known by them that sell you the warranty.

EDIT.

The Skoda dealer I bought the car from in March 2017 tell me that the Service Campaign 34H5 was carried out the day before I took possession. I'd really like to hear from Cdresponder or anyone who has had the same problem. What was the outcome?

@cdresponder  Has not logged in since this thread started in 2016.   Hopefully someone will be along.

You need the Fault Codes read if there are any.

Slightly less expensive can be a selector fault, and common is the MCU.

Skoda wash their hands of the issue which they really should not be doing as your DSG required their Preventative Measure and still has a premature failure even though it has worked for near 6 years.

The fault with the Octavia was Skoda faulty batch of gearboxes. Car was taken away and new gearbox fitted, car returned 6 weeks later.

No further problems , returned lease car after 3 years in 2018.

Now drive Suzuki Vitara allgrip, Skoda lease too expensive.
