Error Code P2455 - DPF Pressure sensor

Featured Replies

So I got the following error pop up today and have discovered its the Error Code P2455 - DPF Pressure sensor. I have cleared the system and will keep an eye on it to see if it pops back up.

Just getting myself ready in case it needs replacing.

Should I replace with original or OEM if OEM which brand?

Any idea of the cost of the part?

I have the 1.6tdi any idea of the location?

Is it a case of just unplug and plug the new one in?

Thanks

I think you will find you can only get genuine ones. Once fitted it will need to be calibrated with diagnostic equipment before the car can be driven.

Really why does it need to be calibrated? Surly its just plug and play

Yes really. The faulty sensor will have given the ECU a dodgy reading hence the fault code. The ECU needs to be reset to the new sensor or it will keep using the old figures and the fault will remain.

I have cleared the error code is that the same thing? I use Torque Pro to remove the error from the ECU will removing the error reset the ECU or is this a VCDS special?

When the old one gives up and you have to fit a new one then it will need to be adapted via VCDS.

This is probably so the ECU can learn what value the sensor is giving out at atmospheric value and can compensate for any zero error when its calculating the diff. pressure across the DPF.

/\ Correct.

Ok so I need to find my local VCDS guru whats the best way to do that?

I have had a cost from Euro Car Parts £50

And a cost from TPS but my local TPS is a 2hr round trip £60

Has anyone used the Euro Car Part and have you had any issues?

Look on the VCDS map. Have you got a quote from Briskoda parts?

Ok Briskoda price £50.40 inc VAT and delivery

However Euro have 25% off at the moment ON EVERYTHING so the new price is £37.49 inc VAT and delivered!!!!

What to do?

Ok so Euro Car Parts sent the DPF out which has arrived very quickly total cost £37.49!!!

At the time Euro could not tell me who made this part so I thought I would share the info. Its made by MTE THOMSON from BRAZIL!!!!

I have attached some pictures for your reference I will report my findings once installed.

OK so if you put the part in you dont get a dash board warning but you do get a second warning P2453 so need to get it on VCDS. Does anyone know the process to calibrate the unit with VCDS?

Have you started the car with the new sensor without calibrating it?

Not yet would it explode if I did?

No, just won't adapt after it has.

Sorry for the delay in the update been on Holiday!!!

So I had the new sensor fitted and calibrated with VCDS. The car ran great for 2 days then the car went into limp mode.

So I grabbed my code scanner and I have found the following

P2453 and P046C

I cleared them both down and ran the car which was out of limp mode at this point.

The only code to come back up is P2453. I guess the sensor is stuffed / faulty? Any ideas?

Would could P046C be the EGR / Throttle body I know these can get a bit sticky and should be cleaned out. I don’t think my unit has ever been of the car. Easy job?
