Oil change at first 1000 miles, is it worth it?

Featured Replies

Hi

As the title says, I'm coming up to my first 1k miles and wondering is it worth it if you plan to keep the car for several years?  I drive about 10 miles a day but travel quite a bit on weekends, this is when I really get to drive the car ;)

cheers

IMHO no, the oil that's on there is good for 18,000 miles in theory.

oil can't be too fresh :)

first change i made on 6 500km(3 months)

next change planed after 10 000km

wondering why service choosed 5w30 instead 2x cheaper 5w40 while they were know about planed shorter service intervals

Similar thinking here, so long as it's the right oil, it can't be changed too often.

I'm with Tech'i here,  especially on a petrol you can change it too soon,(when new)   whilst I wouldn't go 18000,   changing too soon for a "better" oil will inhibit bedding in and likely result in heavy consumption  p.s. don't thrash it but don't baby it either   --for the next few thousand
