I've been quietly watching this and I've just decided it's going to rich for me to have a bid on, and make a camper out of, so here you go folks. Hope it goes to a deserving home.

It's certainly "unique" and "has potential". It looks like the only structural mods are the bulkhead and a section of the roof have been taken out.

I saw this on eBay when it it first appeared about 2 months ago, believe it sold for £2000 (unless it was removed for some reason or another). I can't see in the link what it's now being auctioned for? Incredible condition, but those mods are quite significant, it would be quite costly and a shame for it not to stay as an icecream van!

http://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/timed/bpi-associates/catalogue-id-bp11012 - That's the link for the sale if it works better? It's lot 120, so about halfway down. Or search for Skoda on Bidspotter and there's only about 5 results.

It's on £850+ premiums at the minute.

I never saw it on ebay, maybe his mate won it?

We've had the odd ice cream van through before, and to be fair, it's not a very good one, so no real loss if it got turned back into a pickup in my opinion. Compared to welding up a rusty snotter, I Can't see it being a bad job to joddle a bit of roof in. Were the bulkheads spot welded?

Fancy the escort cosworth it's parked next to more tho..

Bet the rear inner arches are still rusty on it lol

If the mileage is real, she's a gem. But why would a car stay without running for so long?

Other than that I hope she'll get much better decals from the new owner because they're horrendous.

A clever owner could sell not only ice cream, but hot fast food and hot tea or coffee in cold seasons. She'll be a money maker in the right hands.

I don't know if there's enough room to do anything except hard ice cream in there. The freezer is straight across the back and you'd have to take the body off to get it out. I certainly wouldn't want to be cooking in there, it's not like the fire escape's easily accessible!

I was thinking more to heating sandwiches in a microwave oven or boiling stuff, not cooking per se. The mobility of this jolly van will allow placing it in the best strategic location where people gather. Only the imagination is the limit. I'd buy it with my eyes closed if it were here.

This would be one of those times that a bit of thinking is required.......

You don't sell ice-cream whilst driving. You drive somewhere, stop, open the serving windows and sell ice-cream. Preston isn't far from Blackpool and is a well-known tourist place, it's possible it could have spent a lot of time there.

6,800 miles is not a true representation of the engine: it would have been running all the time it was parked up to sell ice-cream, to keep the generator running to power the freezer. Could be easily parked up for 10/12 hours with the engine just idling. Probably on hot days, with nothing but the fan to blow hot air through the radiator. Plus there would have been a loading on there for the generator, which wouldn't help.

So, in truth, the engine has been running for far longer than pulling the body for 6,800 miles. You'd definitely want service history in these circumstances, plus a good look at those rear strut towers, before running away with the idea that "it's a gem" of any sort. :) :)

The condition of the wheels is saying to me it's never been outside much, so rear turrets should be ok.

Did anyone see what it went for? It was past 2 grand this morning.

You don't have to feel obligated to answer to any of my rhetorical questions. If you want to prove how smart and useful you are, feel free to jump in and share your expert advice on any technical topic. So far you are totally absent except nitpicking or trolling some of my less important posts. Many members of the forum are disgusted by your cheap sarcasm and hateful attitude. You are the last person to tell me what to think. You keep displaying a lame and empty 'superiority' and patronizing attitude towards me as if you are the pinnacle of experience in the UK. To me your long time envy and hate prove that you are only an insecure, immature and shady character. How about not trolling my posts and getting a life? I told you that numerous times. The moderators too. Learn to respect other people and perhaps you will earn some in return.

Think you may have misinterpreted rainbow fires post slightly Ricardo, they were just pointing out that the mileage isn't representative of the usuage (although it does look mint!)

Let's forget it and all stay friends as I can just see this being blown out if proportion again! :)

I know you have only good intentions but you witnessed many times who I am dealing with. I didn't see the guy express any valuable opinion on technical issues for over a year. He only feeds from intrigues and he hates my interest and passion in this section. He is ready to take sides to anyone having the slightest bad opinion about me. Just to let them down when they need help. He is nowhere to be found at that time.

So don't worry ninja, I am here to stay. Even if for some very few I am bad news like Brexit or Iceland...

Sometimes >things aren't always what they first seem< with headline mileages etc leading to things not quite being the bargain that they initially look to be. I'm 100% sure that harmony will return within this section too! ;-)

Ricky, dear boy, having watched your performance over the last year or so, whilst on a technical level you have demonstrated an superior amount of knowledge to many on here, your total lack of people skills is your greatest failing. If anyone comments a possible alternative to your Masster-ful knowledge, you do nothing but attack and berate. If someone posts with mis-spellings and grammatical errors, you attack and berate, possibly because you feel threatened that someone else may be able to answer the question that has been posed. It is rare that the forum has to endure such strutting, self-preening arrogance, but it has done in the past and will undoubtedly do so again in the future. Less people contribute on a technical level because we are all too aware that all you will do is berate those suggestions that do not exactly match yours. You demand that people follow your instructions and do things your way. If they don't, you get on with berating them too. Maybe it's a cultural thing, and that the Domican Republic, Russia, Poland, and where-ever else it is that Masster came from, the way is to be angry when things aren't done your way, or people's opinions differ to yours.

It was fun watching your strutting arrogance when you had a problem a little while ago (when your car suffered the rather common problem of interior condensation), within a couple of replies, you were given the answer, but because you didn't believe what you were told, you dismissed the ideas out of hand and went on to run round in circles until the realisation hit you that you'd been told how to solve the issue days before. It was noted also that you demand gratitude and respect from people, but totally failed to give it to those who told you how to resolve the problem. Another fine comedy moment from your goodself.

What has happened is that the community side of the "oldies" forum has all but vanished, because you want to keep things technical, wholly technical and nothing but technical. If you look, the Tagline under the Briskoda heading is ".....forum and community." Again, maybe community means something different in your culture to what is does in the UK. Maybe "community" is something that's uniquely British.

Oh, and Brexit and Iceland: neither were bad news.......only England could exit Europe twice in one week. However, both of those subjects are also covered, in-depth in other parts of the Forum and Community.........

Hopefully we can leave it there before people say things they wish they hadn't.

Ho hum...

Another thing worth remembering is the gearbox is hardly getting any lubrication at all while it is sat in neutral idling all day. 5th gear relies on the diff to push oil to it and the gear idler bearing's are also fed the same way. If the wheels are not turning then they are not getting fresh lube..

Maybe it's a cultural thing, and that the Domican Republic, Russia, Poland, and where-ever else it is that Masster came from, the way is to be angry when things aren't done your way, or people's opinions differ to yours.

What has this "'Masster" anything to do with me? Because you keep beating the bush with it while hating countries that hadn't had the 'opportunity' to be colonized and taught order, democracy and high moral standards. Get it out of your system once and for all. I'll bring Coca-Cola and 3D glasses. Just keep it shorter and more real than "Schindler;s List".

There was a picture on here a few years ago of a "pod" for the trucks. It stood on legs, you dropped the tailgate and backed in underneath, crank in the legs, lock it in place and off you went. You had extra room as you had the area from the tailgate (you used it with the tailgate down and a reg plate on the back of the pod. You could rock-up to a campsite, drop the pod, put the tailgate back up and nip out and about, "car-like". Come back to site, dock, and the you're using the truck to support the pod and you whilst you sleep*.

I suspect getting a straight truck/van and going from there would be easier that trying to convert the ice-cream van. ;)
