Volvo problem, 2.0d

Hi,

I seem to remember someone say they were a Volvo tech. Anyhow, I've got rid of the troublesome Citroen and in the absence of any decent Octavias for sale within my budget, instead I bought a hopefully not so troublesome Volvo v50 (I know it's a focus underneath).

The Volvo has a slight misfire/judder when cruising on flat roads at about 1800-2000rpm. Only does it when hot and goes as soon as you press more than a tiny bit on the accelerator, any increase in speed stops it until you cruise again. I've tried a new fuel filter, cleaning the throttle body and I've blanked off the egr, neither has helped. The good folks over on the Volvo forum seem stumped. One has suggested potentially the fly by wire accelerator pedal/sensor. Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Mike.

Injectors?

Local independant says no, but I was thinking those possibly too. Accelerates like a train though with the slightest pressure on the pedal past cruising level.

Local Volvo dealership closed down a few years ago so nearest one is about an hour away, I'll go on my rest days when I get chance but it won't be for a fortnight.

As said, injectors first, get them flow tested, that will show up any potential issues. What mileage is it, and what sort of use has it had? If it's been used as a town car then it could well benefit from an injector service, especially if it's over 100k miles. Get the problem sorted though, as misfires can lead to DMF failure (imbalances the crank, throwing the DMF out of balance)

A decent independent Ford specialist may be able to throw some light on the subject too.
