Jabba & 95 Ron?

Featured Replies

Hi all just picked up my nearly new octavia vRS on Thursday! wow fantastic car with a great spec, but a tad down on power compared to my last motor (impreza) just wondering if jabbas remap is suitable for 95ron fuel as here in Ireland decent SUL is as rare as hens teeth!!!

Cheers

Fergal

The remaps can be done dependant on the fuel type you use......you just have to tell Mike what fuel type you're going to be using.

Mine was done on 95 ron, if you do a search you should find me dyno. but bear in mind mine was done with a full miltek

95 Ron and 10000miles later, no problems.

Mike did ask but he said that it doesn't really matter - it just gives a bit more top end power with SUL.

thanks lads :D

If you drive exclusively on super unleaded (RON 97), would the RON98 programme from Jabba be useful, or does it really need to be Optimax?

You can use SUL after being remapped for Optimax but I guess you won't get the "full effect".

You can even run UL but it definately doesn't feel the same....still smooth but doesn't have the response or pull.......in my experience.;)

Getting all twitchy again Q?;) Space left on the current group buy......

So really it makes no sense then (if only a little bit) to run SUL over UL... unless you can get your hands on Optimax.

And no, I haven't changed my mind... Jabba is still due, but not just yet :)

From my experience.......it's like levels........UL is bottom, SUL middle and Optimax is top....not dissing just trying to use an analogy to discribe.

As remap has been tailored for Opitmax this is the optimum setting for performance and mpg....SUL will give you a little less of each and UL the same again. I haven't noticed any difference in smoothness but there's a definate difference in performance and economy.

Like I say this is from what I have experienced. I run A 3 tanks Optimax/1 tank UL cycle. This was suggested to me by Mike at Jabba.

Oh.....in Basingstoke Optimax is the same and even cheaper than SUL so I don't bother unless I want to try it out. Tried some BP SUL (pre Ultimate) and didn't like it but perhaps I should have run a couple fo tanks as opposed to just one.

I'd try Optimax if I could only find it locally. It's not worth running 1/8th tank empty again just to fill up... :(

Not dissing those who find it great, but I'm not using Optimax in the 'Tavia

Rob,

that's understandable as you had a bad experience with your Scoob....you can only go on what you know right?

Exactly :)

It always ran well on Esso SUL for some reason! (against BP, Texaco etc)

A few years back i was working on an exhibition here in Dublin, the ESAT Young Scientist of the Year, there was a group of students 12-14 yrs old who had decided to base their work on comparing different fuels avaible to the irish motorist, any way to cut a long story short the result was that ESSO UL came out on top during their testing, just my 2ps worth
