PCP On a New Monte Carlo

Featured Replies

Almost time to trade in my Fabia vRS and my wife is adamant she wants a Monte Carlo cos it's got a panoramic sunroof.  Anyway, here are the figures I was given today for the car on PCP so can someone take a look and see if we are getting a good deal or what we should ask for if not?  Be gentle with me cos I'm a car finance virgin :)

1.2 TSI Monte Carlo DSG with metallic paint and heated front seats

0% APR & £750 fuel card

Period of Hire - 36 months

Cash Price - £18,290.00

Less Advance payments - £3594.10 (includes 2k cash deposit, £500 from Skoda and the rest is the PX equity of my vRS)

Balance of cash price/amount of credit - £14,695.90

Balance payable by 35 monthly payments of - £212.42

GFMV - £7261.20

Total AMount Payable - £18,290.00

This is for 10,000 annual mileage.

There's a massive chance we'll be handing it back in after 3 years to get another car so not quite sure if PCP is the way ahead.

I might be wrong but I've just specced up a car like yours and it comes to £17.2 K

You have put yours at over 18K

Go onto the Skoda web site and spec up your car and see what it comes to. It seems a bit expensive.

Not trying to put you off but double check

I might be wrong but its worth checking.

Thanks, just specced it myself and it comes to £17,790, metallic paint is £535 and heated seats are £180.  Still short of the figures they gave me, I bet they've added the paint protector stuff on or something like GAP although there's no mention of it on the quote.  Going back tomorrow so I'll double check with them.

It was bought on PCP and time's up hence why we're looking again :)

Ah I see. I will be in the same situation as you this time next year and I've already started shopping around lol.

Try looking at websites like carwow as that price you've quoted in the original post seems a bit high to me

I already have and they are coming up lots cheaper than the dealer price.  As ex military I also have access to some defence dealers so I'll take a look at them as well.

I got my Monte in March and I'm paying a pound more than that with spare wheel hill hold and electric rear widows and a 2 year service plan

Be better off with an ex demo or what not

I would not entertain spending 18k on a skoda fabia for it to drop in value like a lead balloon

I know nobody probably cares but i bought a 63 plate monte 1.2tsi with 7k miles for 8k. And to me thats basically new. They can keep their extra 10 grand

As a Yorkshireman I care mate!  It's my wife who likes the monte.  However, the only thing she wants is a panoramic sunroof and she will not budge on this so looks like more searching.

Briskoda offer a service that helps you get good deals. Here is the link:

I didn't use Briskoda (got a mate that gets good car deals) but for references, I didn't get 0%, but I'm paying £174 with a £500 deposit. Only extra was the green paint, worth £500. I got a good deal, though. Can't remember how long it's for!

Thanks, I sent off my specs to Colin this morning so just waiting for a reply.

I looked at leasing but it wasn't that much cheaper; it's also far less flexible than PCP, so I stuck with PCP again. Handy if you end up deciding you want to keep the car.

But guess it depends how absolutely certain you are that you'll be handing it back...

I also don't think it's for other people to criticise how much folk are spending/willing to pay for their cars. Just an observation I've come across in a few threads on here.

It's also often easy to forget that with a PCP or leasing, you aren't paying the full value of the car unless you decide to keep it. So in many cases it doesn't work out any more expensive than buying a used car of the same ilk...

No bother. Let us know how it goes. By the way, I'm spending £176, not £174. I only paid £500 deposit, then £500 for paint was worked into the contract. I've got it for just over 4 years on 5,000 miles a year. I will do more than that myself but plan on paying the difference. Since it was 2.9% APR (I think) it's better to go for low millage and pay for it yourself, otherwise your paying interest. However, since you will be on 0% it won't make a difference.

Hope this information helps in some way, though I'm posting it after 12 so it's probably just rambling nonsense! :P

Skoda arnt value for money now days hence why I've just got another new polo for less then 13k

this is the reason I currently no longer drive a skoda, swmbo came back to a citigo from the i10

currently looking at the new Hyundai Ioniq hybrid , looking at the cost of that compared to skoda current offerings can't see me coming back to skoda for a while

I've just picked up my 1.2 tsi 110bhp monte estate, with climate control and cruise control, 12k miles per annum

£1500 deposit contribution from skoda, with 1000 of my own money

£228 per month for 3.5 years

just less than £6.5k optional end payment

I got the cruise control chucked in for free as well

We've had our Monte estate for 6 months or so on a PCP and have found the car faultless, imho I found the deal we got (in another thread somewhere) to be excellent, I weighed up loads of other makes/models before purchasing and think the Fabia estate represents excellent value compared to similar options out there, people obviously have different opinions on what is value for money.

depends on what features you want, for me the android auto / apple car play are useless as I don't have an android or apple phone (but I appreciate it would make resale easier as other want it), but I like cruise, electric mirrors, Bluetooth for my phone etc

but I also didn't like the seating position in the fabia, or the dash, but the external styling of the car was better than the mkII

there are so many things that make up your decision, and normally it is a compromise somewhere

the last two cars of mine I have compromised on lower (but adequate) performance to get better mpg and cheaper insurance

My lad bought a Fabia Colour on PCP for £2,500 deposit + £119 per month for 42 months + £5,600 final payment (ie £13,098) on a 10,000 per mile limit

This included metallic paint, spare wheel etc

We looked at a Monte Carlo (nice spec) but thought the Colour was decent enough and the price seems decent in comparison
