Doing just that now.

Sealant too. Mk1 Fabia wings are a bugger to get off compared to Ibiza ones. Recon Fabia ones wouldn't even need bolts :)

Reason after 2007 of losing weight and build quality and reliability likely being 2009 and Euro 5 emissions and even VW had to end Dirty Diesel fat lumps even with their dodgy scales and defeat devices they had to get past EU testing with basic cars looking light.

(Spare wheels as options, wheel arch liners likely not fitted, smaller fuel tanks, lighter glass, crap anti corrosion protection  including the now water based paint process.)

So lightness is king in car manufacturing, and yet Skoda made a vRS Fabia Hatch on paper 5kg heavier than their estate by adding Ballast (likely Dr Martin Winterkorn instructed this very non engineering solution to Brand / VW / Superior.)

rather than having the VED a class lower and the same as the VW which was really heavier.

Also fitting Spares as standard so in the Unladen weight with the Skoda but not the VW, Seat or Audi,

2013 they took the Seat down a Class of VED even though no lighter and it had the same engine management as the Skoda.

Not sure what volume as to do with it, surely lower sales = scarcity on 2nd hand market = stronger prices.

.

Or.

Lower sales = little/less people wanted one new = even less will want a used example = worth even less.

It depends how you look at it!

I suppose there are no hard and fast rules - Lupo GTi - hardly anyone bought one (sold 995 in the UK from 1999 to 2005 - you could have a bought a faster, bigger and better handling Clio Renaultsport for similar money - although the Clio had the build quality of a fart in a wet paper bag) but the residuals were brilliant and used values remain firm.
